SHANGHAI, May 8 (SMM) – The SHFE 1405 aluminum contract gapped lower at RMB 12,915/mt, but then inched up during the afternoon trading session. Cargo holders thus turned disinclined to trade in south China, and purchases by some middlemen also boosted spot prices to some extent. Although downstream producers remained on the sidelines Thursday, traded prices essentially held steady between RMB 12,880-12,900/mt.
