SHANGHAI, Jan. 16 (SMM) – SHFE 1402 aluminum contract became the current-month contract on Thursday, which rose to RMB 13,670/mt. Spot aluminum largely traded at RMB 13,540-13,570/mt in Shanghai, RMB 13,530-13,550/mt in Wuxi, and RMB 13,580-13,590/mt in Hangzhou. The rebound in SHFE aluminum prices stoked buying interest in spot markets. However, any increase in volumes traded was limited.
