      LONDON (Commodity Online): Global aluminum production declined by 49,000 metric tons to 2,140,000 tons in January from a revised 2,189,000 in December, reports the International Aluminum Institute (IAI).

      However, output was up by 3,000 tons from 2,137,000 in January of 2010. The main declines between December and January occurred in Africa, North America and Western Europe, according to a monthly IAI report.
